The Columbia Tap Trail, a 4-mile historic corridor built along a former rail line constructed by enslaved Black men and later used to transport incarcerated laborers, remains a significant part of Houston’s story that Leadership Houston XLIV seeks to enhance to fully honor and elevate its legacy. Through 44 installations blending history, art, and sustainability—and marking milestones from 1836–2026—the project will enrich the trail’s cultural presence. As part of the FIFA 2026 Green Corridor linking NRG Stadium to Fan Fest, the trail will offer visitors a safe, memorable route that strengthens surrounding communities and leaves a lasting impact, becoming a place where Houston’s legacy of its past, present, and future meet on the path the world will walk.
