Prior to joining CenterPoint Energy, Geoffrey Castro spent nearly a decade working in leadership roles with a host of non-profit organizations.
Geoffrey Castro’s current title is Lead, Corporate Community Relations. He is a strategic leader with experience in CenterPoint Energy’s comprehensive community investment and communications portfolio. He has a proven track record of cultivating stakeholder relationships and managing programs to elevate CenterPoint Energy’s brand as a leading corporate citizen. His work has facilitated the distribution of millions community funding by way of managing grants and contributions and benchmarking performance against top peer companies His responsibilities have also encompassed financial communications, media relations, and crisis management response.
His previous experience is characterized by high-impact management in environmental education and conservation. This included overseeing the marketing and growth of several national environmental education programs that annually reached hundreds of thousands of students. Castro also served as the Executive Director for an organization focused on sustainability, where his expertise was frequently cited in media and public commentary.
Active in the community, Castro has held board and advisory positions with organizations such as the Corporate Community Relations Council, West Houston P16 Council, the Coastal Prairie Conservancy, and Leadership Houston, along with roles on the Endangered Species Media Project, and the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies’ Education, Outreach and Diversity Committee.
Castro holds bachelor’s degrees in communications and environmental studies and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas. In his personal time, Geoffrey enjoys traveling, seeking adventures both big and small, and spending time with his wife and two children.
