Class XXXVI Project
Each year, nearly 7,000 HISD students are homeless. As a result of Hurricane Harvey, this number has skyrocketed to nearly 30,000 students. There is no structured way to physically get donations to homeless students. Leadership Houston, a 501(c)(3) leadership development program that invigorates the Houston community, wants to positively impact this population with a “Resources On the GO” vehicle: ROGO.
What is ROGO?
ROGO aims to provide essential life supplies to in-need youth in the Houston area.
ROGO is a multi-purpose mobile trailer that delivers resources directly to youth in need.
Working directly with our partner organization, Covenant House Houston, LH Class XXXVI will purchase, outfit and fill the mobile trailer to their specifications, based on the known needs of the youth they serve.
ROGO will provide life supplies such as school materials, clothing, and hygiene products.
Covenant House Houston will become the owner and operator of the trailer by June 2018.
Poverty is one of the greatest barriers to higher education in Houston. Through ROGO we help our youth prepare for a brighter future and contribute to the prosperity of our city.
To bring this project to life, we must raise $33,000 in charitable donations. For more information or to donate, visit www.leadershiphouston.org/project. Leadership Houston, Inc. is a registered 501(c)3 charity and your contribution, restricted to the Class XXXVI project, is deductible to the full extent of the law.
