Enlighten. Empower. Engage.

We Connect Houston's Leaders
with Each Other and the City they Care About.

The mission of Leadership Houston is to enlighten, empower, and engage diverse community leaders through a broadened knowledge of Houston and increase their civic leadership capacity for the benefit of Greater Houston and its stakeholders.

A Hands-On Learning Experience

Leadership Houston's Signature Program is a ten-month journey through Houston's history, economy and development. Through two overnight retreats and eight monthly class days, the program provides exposure to Houston's key industries and affords participants a "backstage pass" into the inner workings of Greater Houston.

A Close-Knit Alumni Network

Each Leadership Houston class forms a special bond through a shared experience. Alumni are offered opportunities to stay involved by serving in various alumni committees including: development, alumni and class day programs, marketing, recruitment, selection and also through board service.  Over 1900 Leadership Houston alumni contribute significantly to the private sector on a daily basis, playing key leadership roles in government agencies, nonprofit organizations, small businesses and Fortune 500 corporations.

Work Together to Make an Impact

Each year, the Leadership Houston class project is an opportunity to address a need in the community, and to rally a diverse group to make an impact. Recent class projects include ROGO: a multi-purpose mobile trailer designed to provide essential life supplies to youth in the Houston area, a Rain Garden at Memorial Park, a 5000 square foot mural titled "Rail to the Sea" to create art for public space,  library renovation at SHAPE Community Center, and a collaboration with the Adopt-A-Stop program to build four METRO stop shelters featuring artwork from local artists. See list of previous class projects.
